About Rowena

I am an award-winning Australian artist based in Mount Isa, Queensland, deeply inspired by the rugged beauty of the outback — a land of contrasts, vibrant characters, and timeless stories of survival.

The outback isn’t just something I paint — it is who I am. Raised on remote cattle stations in North West Queensland and the Northern Territory, I spent my childhood on horseback, immersed in a palette of ever-changing colour: red earth, vast horizons, connecting me to the silent pulse of the land.

As a multi-medium artist, I paint what is real — moments suspended in time. Dusty tracks I’ve ridden, weathered rocky hills I’ve climbed, endless skies I’ve lived beneath — all are woven into my work.

Every piece I create for your wall is more than just a painting to fill a space — it is an invitation. A chance to pause from today’s fast-paced world. To breathe. To feel the land’s quiet strength, its healing silence, its ancient history. To reconnect with nature, with family, with your own memories. To bring a sense of peace and calm into your home.

"A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires." — Hedy Lamarr

I love collaborating on commissions, working with clients to bring their ideas and memories to life — creating artwork with personal meaning. A story. A legacy to be passed down to your children and treasured for generations.

When I’m not painting, I help run our transport business, spend time with my family, creating in the garden or hiking and riding new bush tracks, always curious to discover what’s over the next hill.

I invite you to join my newsletter to see new works as they develop, hear the stories behind each piece, and stay connected.
